Take a syringe without needle. Suck the air inside it. Now, close its mouth and press the piston of syringe(injection). You will find the the piston will move towards the mouth end even after closing of the mouth of syringe.
Now, you suck water into syringe. Again do same process. You will see piston of syringe won't move towards mouth end.
If the hydraulic hose pipe is not supplied with incompressible fluids, if supplied with cpressed air, then there occurs up and down vibration of inner hose piston which are linked to external loads.
My point is while we have to deal with huge loads lifting condition, at that that our input must be multiplied rather than subtract. Balanced multiplication only happen in incompressible fluids. And here fluid is compressed and pressure is multiplied by the use of two different diameter pistons.
Here we come to understand that fluid system, that is hydraulic machines have higher efficiency than pneumatic machines because fluids is incompressible at ideal condition.
